"Private A. H. Edwards, of the Sherwood Foresters, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, of Wyaston, and his age was 20 years. He was killed in action on May 21st last. He was formerly in the employ of Mr. James A. Dawson, of Newton Grange for one year, and previously with Mr. F. Rose, of Brailsford, for four years. Private Edwards had served with the colours for a year, and he was shot by a German sniper. His brother, Ernest, aged 18, joined the army with him, and was at his brother's side when the fatal shot was received. Another brother, William, aged 32, joined the army in February, 1915, and was placed in the Sherwood Foresters. Private Edwards' brother, John, who is in Lincoln, is married with one child, and is exempted until October, and his brother Tom, who resides at Wyaston, and is married with one child, is medically unfit."
